2006 was a record breaking year for PacWest. Pulling down close to 500 production days, it was a time of non-stop entertainment! And we're not talking "racks & stacks" folks…we went large!
"It's a bit of a balancing act, pulling down that many productions with this size company", Milton admits. "Our priority has always been superior execution and customer service. But in order to keep that going, we've got to make sure that our guys are getting some sleep."
Fortunately, PacWest's Production Manager, Jonathan Wright, expertly utilizes his resources to maintain an impressive track record of excellence. Wright is the first to say that a sense of humor is key to survival in the world of production. "There are days when I look at the production board and all I can see is this big blur of orange. [all production related items are on the dry erase board in orange pen]. And I wonder if I've totally lost my mind to work in this industry? Then I sit down, plan out the production piece by piece, and next thing you know, there it is on paper, an elaborate orchestration of stage plots, techs, labor, audio gear, trucks, drivers…and then the hotel rooms, sleep/eat schedules... I could go on and on!"
Wright couldn't do it alone, that's for sure. PacWest currently has 13 full time staff, over 20 part time technicians and labor crew, and a highly skilled network of independent audio engineers who are sub-contracted in order to pull down 500 production days when, you may have noticed, there are only 365 days in a year!
